I am wanting to hear your thoughts on auto feeders. I just got some Formula Two small pellets and all my fish go BONKERS for it, more than any other feed I have tried. I thought it might be neat to have an auto feeder plop a small pinch of pellets in a couple times a day. Maybe just 5-10 of the small pellets at a time. Never really used a feeder like this, so I don't know if they are any good or even what to look for.

I saw a tank of the month on RC that had 3 auto feeders that had a bunch of anthias and other fish that need fed alot, it worked pretty cool. I think each of the auto feeders dropped in food twice a day. I was thinking about doing this once my frozen foods run out. I've still got a couple more bags though, so it'll be a while. This would work great for consistent feeding! I'll see if I can dig up the TOTM on RC...

I use an autofeeder when on vacation but have never used it on a daily basis. I have the return pump set on a timer when we are gone so that it goes off 5 minutes before the feeder does its thing and then comes back on an hour later. It seems to work very well in that application. I can see some benefit on a daily basis though and maybe with sinking pellets it wouldn't be necessary to have the return pump off.

I used to use one with sinking pellets only for a while and it worked fine. I don't know about flake or anything that stays on top or in the water column since most of it would just go down the overflow if the pumps stay on.

I was going to use the formula two small pellets. They are a little bigger than poppy seeds and the fish love them. My schedule is pretty irregular, so I was looking for some level of regularity.... if that makes sense. I don't even know what one of these things looks like. Is there a brand for me to look into?

That formula two pellets are awesome. Best thing to use in an auto feeder. Flake or anything else wouldnt work so well.

This is what I have and it works fine:

I don't have experience with others to comment on their performance.
