Who here is using titainium heaters? What brand? Best place to purchase?I've been using Jagers for years but they are hard to adjust and I'm finding myself having to do this much to often, my tank is in my basement where the temp is very stable.
    Any recommendations?

Just pick up a ranco temp controller and you'll never have to worry about it...far more reliable

I looked that up Jason but I don't understand it, can you explain? Can you stop by the store tomorrow after work?

Yeah I can stop by... For those tagging along and are curious. Its basically a box you plug your heater into, set the temp you'd like your tank to be and it will keep the temp at that temp within one degree if I remember right. They have a separate temp probe. And from my expirience if your not running a controller there the next best thing my was always accurate. The nice thing is if you add a controller.later you can use this as a backup incase you have a heater fail

Ranco controller with blue line element is what I use personally and in most of the custom setups I do. Another good one I have used several times is the JBJ model

Hey john i use titanium heaters i like them because their not as easy to break as say a ebo. I use the finnex ones which Brs sells.

As far as the ranco goes they are great controllers but just make sure you put shrink tube on the sensor as their not waterproof. I use one on my salt mixing tank which was on my display tank. They can be kind of pricey but worth the money i think all wired and ready to go a single stage is like $70 or $80 and the dual stage is around $130. The main reason for useing the dual stage one is if your heaters draw alot of amperage you can split them up. I also highly recomend useing several small heaters insted of 1 large one. That way if 1 fails you still have a backup. If you look under ranco etc store you should be able to find them. their website can be a little confusing but give them a call and tell them you want to controll the temp in your aquarium and they will get you what you need. their phone number is 419-371-1742
Another good option which i did is to buy a Digital aquatics reefkeeper lite controller for around $120. If your going to spend the money on a $130 dollar temp controller you might as well buy a cheap controller then you can controll more than heat just as long as you dont go above 15 amp.
Im not sure what neptune systems offers for a basic controller other than the apex lite which can be pricey.
If you need any more help give me a call.

I really wouldnt suggest finnex. their elements are fine but there controllers are awful. 3 out of the 4 I have bought have broken at some point. Everytime its the controller. I like how cheap they are but I wouldnt protect my multi thousand dollar investment with them again.

I just use the element not the controller. That is what the ranco or rkl is for .
