Your fish list looks good. Keep in mind that the wrasse will destroy your pods that your mandarins will need.

Personally I would pass on the mandarin as I don't feel your tank will be big enough to support a pod population large enough and long enough to keep one fed unless you runs fuge for abutting a year first.

Thank you! Ok I will scratch wrasses off of the list then. Sorry, I didnt quite understand what you ment to say about a fuge?? I will do whatever it takes to keep a mandarin...even if that includes resupplying my population regularly.

A fuge or refuge. Typically a place where your pods can grow and multiply without predation.

Do not underestimate these little guys appetites, all they do is look for something to eat.

Ahh, I see. I am running a fuge. I put it together with pods in mind specifically. There is a very thin layer of sand on the bottom, with about 2-3 inches of rock rubble, and a little chaeto (soon to be more). I also plan on starting some phyto cultures and dripping them into the system.

  5. Haha seeing a green mandarin was one of the first things that got me interested in saltwater! I was determined to get one, no matter how much work the copepods took, luckily I wised up, but at least you have a big enough tank to attain a healthy population.
If I had seen this thread I would have traded you for some cheato before you came down. Now that you have started putting coral in it I want to see another picture! hope those zoas do well for you

Everything is opening up beautifully! That frogspawn is an awesome blue and purple under my lights, and is about the size of 2 large oranges right now. It also looks like the zoa polyp will probably make it, it is open aswell. I will take pics as soon as I find my camera. My phone pics turn out super blue under these lights for some reason.

Thanks a lot for the great deal!
