Think this will be enough light for a 40 breeder? Thinking of throwing in some T5s front and back just to even things out a little bit, but I thought that may just be overkill.

4 x AI sol blues with stock optics

If you don't have a welding helmet, you might ask Santa for one.

I have the 8 AIs actually mounted in the rack. I didn't have the aluminum I needed to mount the MH though.

Going to be running those crazy low, haha. I have 2 reefbreeders value over my 65 (same LxW) and have to keep them down low or everything is pretty sad. My biocube with steves led also has to be run pretty low or sps loose color.

Hope you have insane flow! Advanced aquarist has lots of articles about it but after most sps become photo inhibited in a range of 200-800 par the extra energy gets released in heat from the coral so it's pretty hard on them. High flow, really high flow, can almost totally mitigate the damage from what I have read, but that is way more than I have ever seen for light!!

Its actually for my 250 deep dimension. That rack is 5ft x 3 ft, so putting it over a 40 breeder was just a joke.
I have the 8 AIs mounted right now just for the fun of it. I'm going to get the club par meter and play around with everything. Get readings with all the LEDs , then just the sol blues, and then put the hydras in the exact locations and compare the par. The end plan is to just run the hydras, but with the rack I have built the lighting possibilities are numerous and very easily changed. The addition of MH is still a definite possibility depending on the results.
Even without being able to adjust the hydras because I don't have the controller, I can tell the extra colors are more appealing to my eyes. The sol blues alone were always lacking on certain corals.

I have all the AIs over it now, but I have been just running the hydras to see how they do. So far the corals seem to be doing really well. I think those alone are enough light.
I am wanting to get par readings of the SOLs vs. the Hydras.
