I am working on my top off and 2 part. I have 22.5" depth in my cabinet, 10.5" width for the side of cabinet to my 40 gal sump. The height I have in the cabinet is 28". I am looking at an Aqua-Pak 5 gallon rigid water container you can see water through it, it is BPA free and is 15.38 x 9.13 x 11.59 inches, the opening for the cap is 2.8" I am thinking if I put that in beside my sump I can also put in 2 BRS space saver jugs behind it that are 14 ¾” x 9 ¼” x 2 ½” I should have room for a shelf on top for BRS dosers, JBJ top off and an aqua lifter pump. Is there any reason this water container would not work for my top off water or with the JBJ top off? I am planning getting an extra water container with a funnel for filling the one under my tank. It is hard to find something that has a decent opening on top that holds 5 gal and will fit beside my sump. Sounds like a headache but I want everything wet to fit in the cabinet.

The opening in the top off container is at the most 2.8 and the only measurement I could find for the JBJ was replacement sensor they sell said it is 3 x 3 x 3 inches. I really am not sure about cutting the plastic on the sensor down so it will fit. I am also afraid that it will be too hard to get in and out if its fit is too tight so I think I am back to looking for the right size of container to fit in the space.

I have a similar container and my opening measures about 2.5" I had to cut the guard around the float switch to fit through the hole. Basically looking at your picture that piece of plastic on the top (which is actually the side of the guard) I cut completely off. Doesn't effect the function of the switch at all. You could also make a completely different holder. The "snail guard" thing isn't really necessary inside your container of fresh water.

Thanks, That was my initial thinking but I was not sure if cutting the plastic around the sensor would do anything to make it not work right.

you could also cut a wider opening in the water container instead of modifying your pump or float switch

I hope I have the top off container problem solved. I bought a 7 gallon polyethylene container with a 5 " opening on top. 14" L 9" W, 15 "H It has gallons marked on the end for easy viewing. I am looking forward to seeing it. My daughter picked it up for me to save the almost $30.00 shipping fee and now I will have to wait for her next trip home to get it.
