I was wondering what everyone did for top off water.  I know some people use pickling lime, but how much per gallon?  If your using strictly ro do you buffer and aerate before adding. I just add straight ro that is heated and would like to try some new methods.
    Thanks

I use kalkwassar (lime water) for my top off in a 20 gallon ATO system. I use Mrs Wage's pickling lime. Here is an article that will tell you what you are looking for about how to dose...

I just use a 5 gallon bucket with water. I do not even heat mine at all, usually it takes alot of water to throw off temp wise. But sometimes I use Caribsea buffer plus in my top off and it seems to help alittle.

I use it at 2 TEASPOONS per gallon of top off water. Which is the maximum saturation point, use anymore and your just wasting powder.

I use it (mrs. wages) at 2 teaspoons per gallon, making up a 5 gallon bucket and drip dosing with a tom's aqualifter and an ATO, no heat. I set it to draw from about 6 inches from the bottom of the bucket using rigid tubing cut to length inserting through a drilled hole in a bucket lid, lightly mixing in a covered bucket a few hours or more before use.

I also use kalk (mrs. wages pickling lime) at 1 1/2 teaspoons per gallon.  The amount you needed is determined by your inhabitants in the tank.  My tank is NOT heavily dominated with SPS or LPS corals, so I need less than some.  I usually add about 4 gallon at a time to a 5 gallon
bucket and drip dose with a tom's aqualifter and an ATO.  I mix in the bucket, and let it set an hour or so before drawing from it.  I draw from about an inch off the bottom.  I
have my airline tubing rubberbanded to a small piece of PVC pipe that sits on the bottom of the bucket.  The tubing is inserting through a drilled hole in a bucket
    lid.
