    The vehicles engine is not my desiding factor. Condition, miles and price is. Lol the 5.3, 6.0, and 8.1 all get roughly the same mpg... 12-16 in town.

    all the above were the deciding factor of me buying my duramax steady 16-17 mpgs if you run all highway get as good as 22 all the power ever needed starts in the winter at subzero temps unlike a powerstroke.. never once gelled... imo just as good as a cummins but remember a cummins is 400 lbs heavier a six cylinder which prolongs life...on certain ones and with a dodge you could have a straight axle you already had a jeep maybe look into another mopar

    oh and easy way to check if you have an allison tranny just look under there and see if there is a spin on filter on the transmission if so its an allison if not its a gm

    Little update. I bought a 2000 Ford F250 super duty crew cab. Truck is white grey int. 5.4 v8. It has 165k mi but i purchased a 3yr/36k mi warranty. I absolutely LOVE this beast! Its huge! Now, gonna start looking at trading my 81' motorhome for a 5th wheel or pull behind
