For the entire time I have had reef tanks I have always mainly just relied on water changes to supplement my calcium and alkalinity levels.  Being that my little 29 gallon bio cube is nearly fully stocked I have been monitoring the CA and Alk levels daily and come to the conclusion that by supplementing my water chemistry can be more stable than it is now.  Before I start dosing I am going to continue testing daily to get a more accurate level on how much I need to dose but as it stands now it appears my tank uses about 15ppm of calcium a day and .5 Dkh daily.  Being I only do water changes every couple weeks ago I imagine my levels continue to drop fairly gradually for most of that time.  I am going to assume that the Alk is going to eventually stop dropping but being i have only been monitoring it for a few days now I haven't found the point where it levels out yet.
Once I get my numbers figured more precisely I may buy a couple dosing pumps to automate this process.  I am a little hesitant about automating this process but as long as there is plenty of redundancy to prevent over dosing of any kind things should be OK.
I currently have a few sample bottles of DT's PURE Reef Elements laying around, I will probably start with them and eventually start using something like BRS 2 Part or something along those lines.
Hopefully the added stability will encourage growth as well as help encourage my wife to agree to getting a slightly larger tank.  LOL

Wow, I would have thought you were dosing or something already /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif I use kalkwasser and vinegar mixed into my reservoir tank along with an ATO unit hooked up to the sump and it works pretty well for me and its fairly inexpensive. Good luck!

I have used this method in the past but I just hated dealing with kalk.  Not only that you can't control the CA and Alk levels independently, basically every time you dose, both levels go up which may not always be required.
