WTF are they? I was wondering if anyone knows why they are in many of the corals out there, how they became and how to get rid of them. They seem to take the food from the corals. It seems to have a shell like structure so I broke open a couple and noticed a worm. Does anyone know what i'm talking about? Need pics?

pics would help. it sounds like you could have one of many things.

    -Serpula Columbiana
    -vermetid snails

the list can go on and on. but look up these two and let us know.

That sounds more like a vermetid snail. A curly little tube that shoots out little webs? Like everything else, the population will rise and fall with available resources.

I dunno I have a melanarus, mystery, and yellow coris wrasse which are all from the same family and they do not pick on them in my tank. I would think a CBB would be a better option although after they are gone you may have trouble feeding the CBB

According to several posts across the web.CBB wont touch them nor will the wrasses. Others say plug the hole with super glue but that still leaves the mess.

Leave them alone...they aren't hurting anything. If that is your biggest concern then you are doing fine....

the problem is they are effecting the coral growth in the areas that they are in...zoas and chalices arent getting the food they need because of the SNOT web they shoot out to catch their food.
