OK so I'm not liking my mp40's at all. I was thinking about getting the tunze 6095's. I have a standard 180 gallon tank. Anyone who is running these what are your thoughts? Or even what's your opinions on the two? Need input and discussion

The MP 60's are better for a 180. Did you turn the 40's all the way on? Still not enough flow? Too much where the corals are close to the wet side?

My 6" tank has a 60 and 2-40's in it. I run them about 50% What I found when just having the 2 -40's was the flow dissipated in the center of the tank. If I ran them wide open, coral close to the wet side would get blown away. So I went to a MP60 on one end, a 40 on the other and a 40 on the back of the tank. I like it now :0)

I'm in your old situation but I am looking for wider flow I guess. I do have 2 mp40's and 4 korillas (not spelled right lol) but still have areas in the open not getting flow. Ugh I been messing with the flow so much I'm going to pull my hair out hahahaha.

I'm running two 6095s on my 90 gallon. They are controllable, and I'm using the Tunze multicontroller. They are currently the only two pumps I'm using within the display.

I like them a lot. I was originally going to go with the 6105s, but a friend of mine recommended the 6095s because of size of the bigger pumps. The size of these are good, I can palm them pretty good. I can post up a pic if you want; I have done so on another forum for a review.

These pumps move some serious water, but do not have the "draw" effect of the mp40. However, these are aimable. I can pivot them where I want them.. If I want to point them straight down to clean my bare bottom once a week, I can. I can hide them behind the rockwork and aim them around, down, or through the rock.

Most of the time I don't have them running 100%, I have them on random flow patterns. If they're on opposite sides of my tank and put them on wave mode I can get a decent wave going but it doesn't sustain it very well, and I think it's from the overflow box interfering with it.

They also come with different voltage "jumpers" that can allow me to get even more flow from them, but I haven't tried monkeying around with them. I plan on doing it sometime though just to see what they can do..

And best of all they are DEAD silent. No sound at all, period.

All that being said, I want a couple more. There are open slots for two more pumps on my multicontroller and I think two more would really let me dial in my flow so that I have zero detritus settling in the display. With only two pumps going, there's always a pile up behind some rocks no matter where I point them. A couple more and I think I can remedy that.

    Hope that helps.

Here's that pic. They also come with a guard that just snaps on. It's not included in this pic.

I think you would want to go bigger than the 6095s if you are looking at them for replacing the MP40s. Something else to maybe look into adding a tunze wavebox. I've heard those things move pretty much ALL the water in the tank.

I agree. If you are pulling the mp40s off of your tank then I would move up to the 6105s or the 6155s for a tank your size.

And the wave boxes DO move a LOT of water. I just can't justify spending that on an acrylic box for a pump. I've seen some DIY boxes that people have made for their Tunze, but I lack acrylic skills.

I have someone who is going to let me try a 6105 and black runner I really don't want a wave and isn't the wave box designed to make waves?
