Anyone running the Tunze ATO? With me being absent from the tank for a few day at a time I am thinking of getting something a little more precise or at least that is what I have read about this unit. Currently I am running a JBJ and came home today with my sump water level being way off. I was only gone sense Friday so that is not going to cut it anymore.

gered, i'm running the JBJ and it's spot on. unless I run out of RODI water it's pretty much always at the correct level. Maybe try adjusting the sensors? what way do you have it setup?

I have been using one from autotopoff.com without any problems. Did it fail in the on or off position?

I've actually been having problems with my JBJ unit too. Its been running its 20 min cycle, then never resets it self until I do.

Sensors are fine and have been cleaned. I have it setup with one sensor in the sump other in top off reservoir. It just failed because it timed out while pumping and never reset. I could have swore they were supposed to reset after 24 hours but maybe that is one of the other top off units. I really do not see why some days it will stay spot on and others it just can not keep up. I have thought about trying a maxi jet pump(small as I can get) instead of the aqualifter but not sure if I want a large pump capable of overflowing my sump.

Has anyone tried hooking up dual pumps on a top off? I thought about usng 2 aqualifters sense I have a back up laying around.

I love the jbj works flawless for me. If you do get a new ATO let me know and I'll buy your jbj to help offset the cost of the new one.

Mine seems to work flawless 80% of the time or like 95% when I am home.

I run the JBJ with a mini jet PH and am using kalkwassar to top off and have never had a problem in the 8 months I"ve had this set up. I am not a fan of the aqualifters as I had one as a syphon on an overflow and it failed frequently....

Just an idea... I have heard people using maxijets where the pump itself is on a timer of 2-5 minutes on every 2-3 hours. If for whatever reason the ATO "tells" the MJ to stay on, after the 2-5 minutes is up the timer failsafe will kill the power as well. Something to think about as an added failsafe, but it sounds like the issues you are having are regarding the ATO itself. I only mention this since you mentioned worrying about using an MJ.

Gered I am using the JBJ. I have a rio 400 that I am using for my top off. I couldn't use the aqua lifter because it wouldn't pull the water up that high. I haven't had one problem since, maybe something you could try while you will be home for a few days. I used the same size tubing as the aqualifter so that it can't push a lot of water, but enough to get the job done before it times out

I use a tunze top off, at first I had problems with the electronic eye getting dirty, but moved it to a lower current area in the sump and it works fine now. I have also had problems with it creating a siphon, if my reservior is higher then the sump level, but a check value would solve that problem. Once you get the bugs worked out it will keep your sump level the same all the time.
