I have a tunze osmolator as an ATO on my biocube. I was considering using this ATO water as a kalk dispender but have read it may be bad for the pump. That said, I can't really find other info. I have seen the tunze kalk chamber, which seems to just be a reservoir of super saturated kalk solution plumbed in after the ATO pump but before the outlet into the tank. I guess the question is, will pump life be significantly reduced if I just make the ATO all kalkwasser? is it worth putting the kalk in its own chamber? It seems like I could make one of these kalk chambers pretty easily out of an old nalgene bottle and some RO line pieces from Lowe's, but if it isn't necessary, why bother, right?

you can get a cheap kalk stirer for under $100 bucks by 2littlefishies. I have my ato pump in my reservoir, which pumps the water to my stirrer and then goes into my sump.

this lessens the chance of my pump getting gummed up if not eliminates it.
