Just got the QC Region par meter back the other day. It was upgraded by Apogee, from the 200 model to the 500. It's supposed to be more accurate.
I bought my own a couple years ago. It's the 200 model. I did 1 quick comparison reading. Both sensors side by side. The 500 model was just short of 100 par higher than the 200 model. Lighting is ATI 6 Bulb power module. Reading taken at water surface.
After fest I will do some more comparison readings with different light sources and compare, just to see the difference.
I will check T5, Halide, and led to compare and I will update thread.

That's cool you could do a side by side comparison. Would really like to see the difference under LED lights as it's my understanding that was the biggest problem with the par readings and that original sensor.

I will definitely test led. I have a reef breeder laying around. I was thinking of attaching sensors together while taking readings so I get them pretty much same spot.

+1. Reading through the Apogee website they mention that the 200 had to have some correction when measuring LED lights.

Did they do the upgrade of the meter for free Jer? Do you think that adding about 100 more to the 200 meter's reading would give us a more accurate reading when measuring under LED's?

Yup. Club paid for everything. All I did was send it in.
It's supposed to be more accurate. Honestly I have no idea. I just use it for baseline readings for bulb changes. And to get a good range of what corals do good at certain ranges. And place corals accordingly.

Definately want to see under LEDs. The upgrade is pretty costly.. So the benefit of the club for this item is great.. I better get my membership renewed!

So, DSM got theirs back and I tested to make sure everything was working. I'm not sure if I had it on the right settings or not, but I didn't see much of a difference when I tested it under the Kessils. My color was mostly at 10k when I tested it so there wasn't a lot of blue, perhaps that is why there wasn't much of a difference.

It'll be interesting to see what other people get for their results.

I'll be passing this off to the next person on the list for DSM :)
