UV ?

    I have been thinking about adding a UV sterilizer to my set up. I have real good growth on everything in the tank now, but will adding this have any negative effects of my zoos growth? I was hoping to improve my water quality, just I am not sure that UV sterilizer is what I need or maybe a better skimmer. The tank is a 180 with a 55gal sump. I have a Coralife Super Skimmer, Thinking about getting a Super Reef Octopus Super Sump Saver. Looking for any advice or reviews.

    What is wrong with your water quality that you think you need to add a UV srerilizer?

    parameters are spot on. I was thinking a UV sterilizer might help with algae growth.

    It doesn't do much or anything for algae growth imo. I have a uv on my bio cube as I thought same as you. No such luck. But my water is extremely clear due to the uv!! Just my 2 cents!!

    It shouldn't hurt anything to add one, but it sounds like your tank is running pretty good as it stands. Sometimes when things are running good its best not to change anything.

    David is correct, the UV won't hurt anything. It will definitely help keep the water crystal clear. The key to using UV is correct flow through it. I have a 40w Lifeguard with new sleeve and bulb. Ballast is rusty but was working fine when I put it in storage. If you are interested in buying, send me a pm and offer :0)
