I bought a Vertex 150 and was so impressed with how it worked I replaced all my skimmers with Vertex. From my findings they out perform Reef Octopus and AquaC, but also have a higher price tag. Also got a Vertex calcium reactor and ZeoLite reactor.

I was that impressed haha. Vertex 130, 150, 180i, and 200i. Got a couple used and the others got a hell of a deal.

Those are nice. I almost bought one a couple years back but the lfs sells reef octopus and carry parts and a little cheaper.
How do you like the reactors?

I like the fact that you can completely disassemble the skimmer to clean it too. I haven't used the reactors. From my research the benefits of the RX-C 6D calcium reactor are better than a lot of the other competitors. I have plans to put it on my 90 gallon SPS cube, but it wont be for awhile yet. The Zeo reactor is also going on my 90. Im waiting for my sump to get it finished up. Should be here next week, then I say my thoughts on them once I'm going.

I ran all AquaC skimmers. They worked great for me. I think they are comparable to the Vertex skimmers in how much they skim. The Vertex outperforms them in the categories of being dead silent, attractiveness, less power consumption, and ease of cleaning the cup/skimmer.

That's awesome...sounds like something I would do lol. I love christmas in june!!!!, especially reef equipment. I was debating with skimmers awhile back and went with reef ocotpus just because of the track record. I was looking into those NYOS skimmers but there wasnt enough info/reviews out on them. They are supposed to be dead silent and use next to nothing for power and be extremely efficient in operation. Maybe I'll have to go with a vertex on my other tank.

Yeah from my experience with the Vertex they are dead silent and work great. I was never really impressed with Reef Octopus when I compared them to the AquaC.
