Very interesting algae scrubber

Yup that one has been out for a while, seen some good results from it. But it's geared towards growing chaeto but I've heard people are getting GHA also

 

A lot of people want to put them in their sump, but these are not submersible, it has to do with the LEDs, the inner tube is open at the bottom, I think for air convection, so it has to be next to the sump or hang on the tank. I don't remember seeing the bracket on the top the first time I saw this so maybe they added that.

 

Because some people want to put everything inside their sump, when they don't have room outside of it for instance. I've seen sumps packed with reactors all sitting in the water. Also someone on another forum thread asked if they could do this, and no room outside the sump was the reason

 

Actually someone in the CR area made a center-lit cylinder type algae scrubber a long time ago, can't remember who it was but I think the is/was a GIRS member. Had underwater LEDs wrapped around a spindle. I'll have to dig up a pic of that. I don't think they were ones that needed heat sinking though.
