FINALLY!!! I was playing cards last night, and won a 750$ pot, too bad I didn't win the next pot of 1760$, then I would have been way set! Since this was money I didn't have the day before, and have it now, I figured I'd just buy an MP40 and some other goodies with the cash. I'm super excited to get this bad boy as soon as possibly. I got it from bulk reef supply.
I don't have the module for the apex yet, will get that and another eb8 later on this week.. I've heard that programming these can be a pain from reviews I've read and what not. Poor instructions, blah blah blah..
If I don't like it, best believe there will be a thread in the buy or sell within a week. I should have used that money to pay for medical bills since I broke my hand yesterday wasted drunk, but hey, that's not any fun either /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

The only thingi don't like is the noise! For a 465$ pump, that's pretty ridiculous lol

Is it noise from the motor itself winding up, or noise from the wetside. They do kind of have a "break in" period and it may quiet down a little bit. But if its in a quieter room you will always here it rev up and down a little bit.
Get one on each side and you would be surprised at how big of a wave you can get going with those things.

Oh yea, plan on getting one more 40 and two 10's /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif. Do you use the foam pad that sits between the dry side and the glass? It says to use it, so i am, but was just curious if everyone else does as well

Use the foam they are even louder without it, make sure you use the correct spacers as well since this can make the motors work harder and be louder as well. I have a MP60 and 2 MP40's all set on random no controller needed really since they ramp up and down randomly which creates very turbulent and calm currents all around. This also makes the noise less noticeable since they are not all in sync/anti sync with each other, you get more of a constant hum this way. Make sure if you get the MP10 that they will work on the thickness of your tank wall. I'm at the max of the Mp40's with 3/4" glass.

Crap I forgot about glass thickness! The mp10's will not work! My glass is to be precise, 15/32's of an inch, so I set the 40 at half inch. How big is your tank, Jamie?

If you still go with the MP10's be sure the motor is supported by more than the magnets,  my MP60 will fall off the wall if I don't use the hangers they provide with them.

The MP60 is quite a bit larger the motor side is heavy and has a lot of torque behind it which is why they use adhesive hangers to keep them in place. This is the same reason the MP40's are supposed to have the power cord facing up and secured. The wet side just falls straight down inside of the aquarium wall if they separate they don't fly across the tank. All the vortechs will shut down automatically if this occurs. But none of the happens if they are installed and secured properly.

You should attach the cords above on all them. MP10 on anything over 3/8" thick does not work that well. I have tried and it barely magnetizes together on 1/2" and even with 3/8" you have to have the cord attached otherwise it can slip. Awesome pumps best made IMO for control.

Yea my cords are mounted up! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif my buddy just bought a mp10 for his half inch tank.. I'm going to pass on tens for mine and get another 40, curious to see how it works on a 1/2 inch tankl... He got a great deal on it tho. Like 140$ so it would work on our frag tank if it don't work on his tank /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
