I was curious as to how often some of you do water changes, or add new water. Right now I change 5 gallons every week on my two tanks, the 40br and the 29g. Neither of the tanks are stocked heavily, and I keep up with top off water on a daily basis. I just didn't know if I could not change the water as much. I know that changing the water is not normally a bad thing but everyone seems to have their own opinion about how much water to change on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly basis. So I thought I'd see what you all do. Because right off the bat I know that 5/40 (does not equal) 5/29

Ditto. I do 5g on my 28g nano. I'll probably do the same on my 40g breeder when it's set up because it's just easy to do one bucket more often than something larger. You could probably try every other week and see if anything changes. I think small changes are key.

We do 5g/week in our 28g. When we had our 210 set up we did 20g/week (and will again now that we have a 210 up and running).

Its interesting to see how many of us do a 5g water change on our tanks because that's the size of the bucket or container

I personally plan on doing the absolute minimum water changes possible. Past expierence tells me that the less we monkey with our tanks the better. Old tanks are the most stable systems out there, and I don't see how they can age properly when you replace water every week or so

You don't need a lot of water changes with lps and softie corals. but if your growing sps corals regular water changes are a must
