I am trying to decide on water storage.  I want water storage for my pre-mixed salt water for water changes and RO/DI storage for auto top off.  Does anyone know a cost effective place to pick up 55 gallon plastic drums?  It seems like they are everywhere but they have always had chemicals in them.  Thanks,
    P.S. I am in Ames

I'd go with something like this

    http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100342585&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=100342585&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D28X-_-100342585&locStoreNum=1950&marketID=234

very solid, has a lid, and they even sell casters for them so you could roll it around.

FlyingMoray might be able to hook you up with a drum, give him a Pm and see what he says.

I use a 40g food grade container that I got off someone getting out of the hobby for like five bucks a pop. He even had float switches and everything in them. I have been happy with it although I wouldn't be against using a drum. I heard of people getting drums from a soda pop bottling plant as they store syrup in the so it theoretically should be safe from the getgo vapparwntly they give them away for free since they just recycle them anyway.
