Think of it this way, they will be more ready for the real world when their job has a dress code.

The reason they had to go this far is how far kids are pushing the envelope. Girls dressed like prositutes, guys with pants around their knees & underwear not much higher.

Jeans have tons of intentional rips & holes in them. Some right accross the back side with a thong on underneath. Others have more studs & metal in them then most toasters.

Being slightly younger, and having relatives who went to school with dress codes, I tend to side with the "let them wear what they want within reason" stand point. The school my cousins went to had a dress code for 6 years before they went back to normal dress with limits. The dress code seemed to make kids act out more, what they couldnt express in dress they expressed with attitude and actions. Kids started to get picked on for much more serious reasons, and they had a 7 kids commit suicide in those 6 years, before the enactment they had none. Sometimes dress codes are good, but most of the time kids will act out harder the more you press.
Again tho, normal clothes within LIMITS. I dont want 15 year old girls running around in clothing that is skimpier than most hookers, and let me tell you how sick I am of seeing some 17 year old boys boxers.
