Id like to know the pros and cons of differant types of food.  I currently only feed Rods food 1 maybe 2 times a day.  I know a lot of people use pellets, flakes and other types of frozen.

We had a DIY food making meeting a couple months ago. After a ton of reading forum after forum on this I can up with this concoction:

    1 oz. PhytoPlan(dry)
    1 oz. ZoPlan(dry)
    1 oz. Coral Frenzy(dry)
    .5 oz Decapsulated Brine Shrimp
    10 oz. Marine Snow
    2 oz. Selcon(liquid)
    80 oz. Small Mysis Shrimp(frozen)
    32 oz. Jumbo Mysis Shrimp(frozen)
    16 oz. Krill(frozen)
    8 oz. Rotifers(frozen)
    8 oz. Squid(frozen)
    750 grams Cyclop-eeze
    16 oz. Fresh Shrimp
    8 oz. Fresh Mussel
    8 oz. Fresh oyster
    8 oz. Fresh Scallops
    2 Packages of nori
    Medium bag of frozen peas
    Medium bag of frozen/diced broccoli
    1/2 Bag of fresh spinach
    1 head of fresh garlic

My fish go nuts for this stuff and their colors are amazing. Since feeding it my sponge growth has gone crazy and my coral polyps are extending more than ever!

Feel free to ask anything about this mix, I'm very confident this was the best mix possible for the price.

An important thing that people should know is to take a brine shrimp net and rinse out any frozen foods they feed. The extra water in frozen foods contains a lot of phosphates and other things you don't want in your tank. I would advise against pellet and flake foods, stick to frozen.

If you have a supplier of black worms, I've also heard this was an incredible thing to feed your fish. There's tons of omega fatty acids in it, which is does a wonder for a fish's immune system.

Thinking you still had some of this for sale?  I would pickup a couple of bags when I stop for the cuc order.

What's your method of mixing that up?
I imagine a blender would probably be too much?

Adam - I had also read that its best to rinse any frozen food first.  But what I'm curious about is based on the wonderful mixture that you've made (the club also made some here in Des Moines), is when are you rinsing it?  Are you rinsing the frozen food FIRST - before you combine everything????  Otherwise, if you combine everything, freeze it, then thaw small amounts to feed, and lastly rinse - Aren't you rinsing away any of the liquid component that you intentially added when you made the food??   Thanks!!

iam seeing a trend here with frozen foods being a key. Now I also have some phyto and oyster feast i add a couple times a week, a cap or 2 full of it is all. I recently read i dont need to add these since i only have lps and soft coral. So other then that should i consider any other kind of supplement to me feedings? Also how good is the spectrum pellet foods for marine life? I swore by it with my cichlids and i have read where people actually feed their corals with it as well... pros and cons to this stuff?
