I recently decided to take the plunge and get some sps corals, and before I could do that I had to make sure my parameters were up to snuff. My Ca, alk were at the very bottom of the acceptable ranges, so had to get those up. When I did it turns out there were some things in my rock that made a come back. Notably, halimeda macroalgae which I thought was long gone. Hope it keeps going!

Just test 1 or 2 time a week for calcium and alkalinity. And test magnesium 1 a month after you get that in line also. Stability is key. No large swings and don't dose too much at once. Keep nutrients in check. But when your sps start growing your gonna have to look into dosers or a calcium reactor to keep levels up or your constantly dosing and when you slack on it they will suffer. Be patient. Other than that just the normal stuff good lights clean water and a lot of flow.
