What type of wrasses? Obviously reef safe right? like 6 line? I might have to take you up on the tang order if I can't find them elsewhere. Waterloo isn't too far...

We have 2 matted filefish that work great on aptasia and have not (at least yet) bothered coral. I've heard they can be hit or miss on coral-safe. The ORA bred filefish is the white potted pygmy and not the matted and I have not heard it is an aptasia eater but don't have any experience with it

Yellow coris wrasse seem to do well for pest control if you don't want the more obnoxious six-line.

I used a ton of 6 lines, because I could get them dirt cheap. They can be mean, but when you have a ton of them in a coral prop system they seem ok. Any other wrasse that has the small pointed mouths like them work well. There is a big difference between having a farming system, and a display system. Anything you add should serve a function.

I have never heard of a wrasse eating or nipping at any type of coral, ever.

I use yellow tangs and yellow Corin wrasse in my frag tanks. Both are cheap and good at what they do. I don't like 6 line to agrees I've but like xroads said a big system you should be good.

Ok good. After watching a banana wrasse knock over my big maxima clam and eat it through the bottom I want to be careful with what I have in my system.

    lol

I hate those big wrasses like those and lunar. You want small wrasses with small mouths.

Are you adding anything to the water for food and what are you using to keep calcium and alkalinity in check also what are you useing to export nutrients.
I am very interested in your green house build and will be following along.

Well as far as feeding goes I spot feed my LPS corals with various pellets and frozen mysis a few times a week. I do a mass feeding of fresh hatched brine whenever I actually remember to set it up, which isn't often. For nutrient export I have a pretty good size ball of chaeto in a bottoms of each tank and more in the sump. That stuff grows pretty well in the sun light. So far I've been able to keep the calcium and alkalinity stable using kalk but I think I am going to switch to a 2 part dosing system in the near future.

Clam farm would be a thing of my dreams!!!!

Can toss trochus snails in there too. My favorite reef snail they will reproduce and can sell them for decent money. Unique corals sells baby trochus that have bred in their systems.

+1 on the clam farm. I love those things. I'm not sure I can keep the temp stable enough at this point to even attempt a clam but that would be awesome down the line. And good idea with the trochus snails too. Any other ideas like that that anyone has let me know. Always looking for different stuff to try. This is my beta greenhouse. If I can prove to myself I can make it through a winter or 2 I might try to go bigger.

Flame algae is a really hot seller, I think thee is a blue out there too. You could have a seperate tank of that, and feed it fertilizer. Same with Cheato. There is a decent market for algaes.

For sure. Any type of macro algaes, especially display types. I would think they would grow like crazy in you green house.

Anyone have any experience with DC return pumps? Any recommendations? I had some one mention to me at Fallfest that he started using them to cut back on power usage. From what I'm seeing most of them aren't any better than a normal external pump.

I am giving the Deep Water pumps a go. Talking to some industry insiders, every DC pump runs the same motor out of the same factory.

I am using mine internally, I hate external pumps.
