Why I advertise in the Club Buy Sell and Trade first.

1 Most people think that the more people that see their add the better. I do not, I would prefer to deal with less emails and PMs, the perfect sale would be one message saying I will take it,

2 I think the items I have for sale are a good deal and I would like to offer those deals to people whom support the club by being paying members. Without paying members this great resource will be gone. I like to give members at least a week head start.

3 If someone can not see the value in club membership at $20, what chance is there that they will think my items are a good deal?

There is not near the traffic on the club BST. I will try to use it more.

Anything I post on the site goes there first also. Without us all doing our part as paying members, our fest would not happen, we would not have PAR Meters to use for the club, there would not be monthly meetings with a budget, etc.

There isn't much traffic there because a lot of us do not do a good job at using it.

I personally feel that this post should be pinned.

I have been mainly a lurker on the forums for the past year, but held the membership mainly because of the 10% discount at AC&C. My membership had actually expired about a week ago, and after some deliberation I decided that, for me, paid membership was not a must have.

I am a person with a bit of social anxiety, so club meetings are nearly out of the question. I am still fairly new to the hobby, so answering questions is something I really can't help with. Also, sort of back to the anxiety part of it, I am extremely hesitant to ask a question in the forums, due to the fact I feel that I am wasting others' time by asking a question that has been answered a thousand times before, so I usually go the google route.

To be honest, the reason I mainly look at the forum is the Buy/Sell/Trade section. Being between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, I have one quality LFS to go to, and the selection on these forums is a breath of fresh air. Checking the Club Buy/Sell/Trade is usually a second thought. Due to its lack of activity I check it about once per ten times of checking the public B/S/T forum, (which I check up to twice an hour, as it is the homepage on my smart phone browser.) If it hadn't have been for this post making me feel like I was going to start missing things, I would not have renewed my membership; which I did today immediately after reading.

I can definitely agree with all of the above and when my next round of parts are available I'll definitely put them up on the club portion first. Here here.

When I first started using the site it was mainly for the buy/sell/trade and wasn't a member. Started to see the value in membership and value the people I've met, the things I've learned, and the ideas I've come across with my membership and will advertise in the Members section first going forward!

I love the fact that Iowa has a club like this for fellow fish geeks like me!

Please consider posting in the club buy sell forum for a couple of days before listing in the public forum

Hey Vintonian, you should never worry about asking a question regardless of whether it has been answered. If people don't want to answer it they can ignore it but I think you will find the vast majority of people on here want to help less experienced hobbyists be successful.

I think you made a wise choice to renew. I too rarely attend functions because I am just so freaking busy all the time but it goes to a great cause and it is nice to be part of the "club".

Yes I have failed at this. I still feel that I post in ether place it kills two birds with one stone. I forget about the member BST section. My bad
