Looking to Buy Why is there barely any posts on this forum

Just click his username, then "find all started threads" and you'll see everything. You can then click on the "For Sale" prefix on that list and see only things he has for sale (you can then remove that prefix filter by clicking the "x" on the prefix at the top of the list) oops can't do that on that screen - you can on the forum thread list though

 

You can post your number if you want but the bots can scrape it.

Instead us the spoiler feature, that is modified so that you have to be a registered user on the site to see the content, that way bots can't pick up on it

As far as yahoo goes, check junk mail and whitelist or un-junk the messages. If yahoo has a whitelist feature, whitelist anything from "noreply@greateriowareefsociety.org" - that's the address everything is sent from

 

Every day there is a new group on facebook, and more buy/sell/trade groups. That is faster and easier for most people when everything is done from mobile these days.
Personally I'm fine with that too. This club and forum isn't here to be a trading post. Its here to share the knowledge of the hobby and interact with fellow enthusiasts. The b/s/t is down the list as far as importance and activity that we want on the site. Still definitely part of the hobby, and the club but not the traffic we should necessarily be seeking.

 

@jstngates at one point in time last year the forum had nearly no content/chatter and it was all BST posts. Around then several people started complaining about how it was just BST anymore and no one cared about just chatting and exchanging information anymore and that "the club had gone downhill". Historically we have had more complaints about there being too much BST activity and nearly zero about there not being enough.

I have been working on converting the BST forum-based trading system over to a Classifieds system using an addon that make it less of a forum/thread based thing and gives it it's own place. It's not actually a conversion (doesn't affect existing BST) just a change in the way it's done.

but the idea behind that was to make it so that BST posts didn't clog up the content feed, because whenever people go BST crazy that's when people start complaining.

I do think that people who are active in the club should come here first and give other club members a shot at their stuff. Hopefully the Classifieds addon will encourage that as I don't like seeing club members to go FB first thing to sell whatever they have available - which I see happen all the time, every day, multiple times/day. But that's just me. I/we can only encourage activity here, can't force it.
