I am adding a 40 gallon frag tank to my system. It is going inline, that is, using the same water and filtration as my main system.
I am going to have to add 40 gallons of fresh saltwater to the 350 gallons I have going now. Then I am considering adding carib-sea arag-alive reef sand to the tank. If I add any rock it will be live rock that is in my sump.
If I add all of the above will my frag tank and/or display tank/sump cycle? I assume it will not but I just wanted to check.

I would think not.....you're not adding anything dead, not really increasing bioload (not yet anyway), just increasing water volume to your system. Good Lord, how many frags are you making down there in Mt. Pleasant?! Hoping this will be a softies frag tank /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I wouldn't think so either, at least not of any significance. Whatever mini-cycle you might have would probably be absorbed by the existing filtration (biological and otherwise). Besides your bio-colony is only as large in proportion to the input into the system (food). So if you don't feed more, nothing really changes.

    I would think not too.
