So do you remember the tank from Grove & Platt that started to crack out through the bottom panel?  Who wants a nice big frag tank???

This is a Tenecor 120, it's 66 long x 18 wide x 24 tall, made out of 3/8" Polycast walls and 1/4" top euro and bottom. I got the idea of making this into a nice frag tank by looking at Reefkoi's tank at MACNA. He just chopped off the top of the tank, bonded a piece of acrylic on it, flipped it over, and presto!

Since this is a rather long tank, I would probably cut the top off so that the depth was about 8-10", then just piece together a frame around the top out of some scraps. It wouldn't be pretty but would function great if you wanted a nice frag propagation tank.

There is an overflow at one end

And this could be kept in place and the teeth sealed off, then it could be drilled for an overflow, or left as is and you could put a pump in there to pull from the bottom and recirc like a CLS or something, or I could put a notch in it and make a weir for an overflow and return. The hole in the pic is threaded for a loc-line, which I have as well.

Anyways, all kinds of options here so tell me if you're interested. Cost would be dependent on labor involved and material price would be a reasonable amount for the material you actually get, like salvage value or something.

Someone's got to want a nice long frag tank. Anyone?

The bottom has the fracture but the top still has perfect seams, so cutting the top of and bonding a piece to it will yield a perfectly viable tank that would normally cost hundreds more.

Dunno. I think I can piece together the bottom since there's a brace in the middle so it doesn't have to be one continuous sheet. I bet with time and material I could get it done for $300 maybe (gotta throw some to the doc). That is my estimate and a little on the high side because I don't really know how long it will take to make the brace, or exactly what I will need to do until I actually chop up the tank. I severely underestimated how long it took to do Matt's tank...
