I have an Apex DIY breakout box that uses 3mm plugs.  I also have an Avast Marine Davey Jones Locker that currently hooks up to my Apex via the I/O port.  I clipped that cable to add a 3mm end to it for the breakout box and when I snipped the I/O cable I see like 6 colored wires.  I'm wondering which wires I hook up to which?  Anyone know?

    does this help?
It sounds like there are different versions depending on how you choose to wire it. Maybe try calling them and seeing what it takes to convert it from the IO plug you cut off to the "bare wire" version you need to connect it to the breakout box.

Ya, I tried that and it's still not recognizing the switch. My alarm is still going off as if the locker is full...

A device can be on or off by default and your Apex needs to detect the change. That pressure switch is normally on (closed). When it's pressurized, it's off (open). You need to put the sensor in a glass of water. If the alarm goes off, then you need to reverse your programming.

I was wondering that...b/c even after I have changed my programming and altered some settings...the alarm is still going off....even though locker is empty. I even switched locker settings to switch 2...instead of 1...and the alarm is still going off....as if it still recognizes the locker being 'disconnected' from the switch...and therefore is 'on'...

It's worked before...up to this point....when disconnecting the I/O port Avast sent me...and trying to hook it up to the new breakout box...

BTW, you can use a continuity meter to determine which pin goes to which wire. The Neptune System guide has the Mini-Din pin-out (see page 51 in this guide http://www.neptunesys.com/APEX-20104034_WEB.pdf). You can get them for less than $10 at any hardware store.

Where's your breakout box? It is a DIY or a Neptune? Post your programming.

Right now, I am trying to connect the left cable (2 wired 3mm mono prong) to the multiwired cable that connects to the Locker - so I can then connect it to the breakout box you see pictured.  Other than trying each color combination...any suggestions?  I think I am making this too difficult.

Whats the I/O wiring hook up to on the avast unit itself? Is there a plug, or is it hardwired? Maybe you can check there and see what wire pair is used.

It's kinda lame that the Avast skimate locker hogs the entire I/O

A continuity meter would make it easy to figure out which pair if wires it actually uses for sure. One goes to ground (pin 1) for sure.

Ground is Pin 8. Hook the insulated wire to pin 1, and the bare wire to pin 8. Again, look at the guide to determine what wire goes to what pin. Once you hook it up that way, then Switch1 will show as closed. Then put it into a glass of water...and it should show open. If you set it up as a virtual outlet, then you can see when the switch state changes.

From looking at their website it looks like there is several different wiring options available depending on your situation. One of them being plugged directly into the IO port. Another option is just a bare 2 wire option to allow connection to a break out box as the OP is trying to do now. What it takes to switch from one option to another I have no idea. I wouldn't think it would be much more than a simple change of a plug/connector somewhere. Either way the correct wire pair in that group should give the same results. I'd start connecting things and see what happens, but that's just me.
