I just read an article on Yahoo about a guy that runs 36 WoW characters at the same time. He is spending over $1500 to buy 36 copies of the new WoW expansion and pays $5,700 in subscription fees per year. He said he started to add more charaters because he was tired of having to rely on others to win and wanted to make his own team. Sorry I know there was more specific terms used, but I don't get all of that WoW language... They even had pictures of his setup, it was crazy.

I know people who run 6 windowed WoW chars and have what would be considered crap computers hehe.
I am so glad i didn't get sucked in to that game. ;-)
I would like to revise my previous statement...
I now play WoW...playing on Tichondrius with a bunch of New Zealander friends of mine.
    lvl 29 Undead Mage

I've had the new expansion pretty much since it came out and I have yet to play it for more than a few minutes. It does sound fun, but I just haven't had any real desire to actually log in and play it in quite a while.

I am having a blast finishing up the Elders of Kalimdor Achievement for the Lunar Festival. So far I just have the one in Dolanaar to visit. Supposed to be making the trip with 2 lvl 80 paladins and a couple of healers tonight hehe.

I think they ruined the game with that new expansion. It takes for EVER to hit 80 and Northrend is sooooooo boring. All the enemy's look like old worn out biker dudes lol. The new gear look kinda dumb too. I think they should of just left it the way it was and just added new raids and dungeons. Thats just me though.
I hit 80 and lost all interest in the game. I haven't played for quite awhile now.

I completed the Elders of Kalimdor achievement last night. Have to admit that it was pretty exciting to sneak into an Alliance capital city at lvl 48. I also grabbed a 15 man group and whacked Omen for the Elune's Blessing achievement. The guild ended up bumping me up 2 ranks because they said even some of the level 80 folks wouldn't have tried a move that ballsy hehe.

If I did, I would ask em to hire me and then you could have this job. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif I would move to NZ in a heartbeat.

Time to resurrect this old thread... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I just gotta say that Blizzard did and A++ job with the Lich King expansion. It took me a while to actually sit down and get into playing it, but IMO it is bar far the best 10 levels of the game. The quests are unique and a lot of fun. Now that I've got my rogue up to level 80, I'm torn between leveling up my mage (68) or hunter (70) or doing some of the level 80 content with my rogue.

I have yet to do any of the Lich King instances and I'm way too casual of a player to do raiding, but I'm still finding plenty of stuff to do just goof'n around on my own.

    Nice Job Blizzard!

I sold my account after playing for 4 years (sold it about 1 year ago, started playing 1 month after it was released). It was the best decision I ever made. I was in a top 5% of the world guild and raided 4-5 nights a week and played 6-7. I had a Warrior, Priest, Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, and Shaman all at 70 when I sold it (all geared in top avaialble gear besides end instances, druid was the maina dn had top tier ****).

After I sold that account and stopped playing I found I enjoy life...more time for soccer, ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, my new puppy, my wife, more carpentry, and I can go hunting and fishing when I want and not feel bad about leaving em short handed.

But for those who keep playing, I hope you enjoy it, seems like EZ mode.

    Strong,

I've been playing since the original beta. When I first started, I was in a raiding guild as well (back in the Tier 1/2 days... Onyxia, Molten Core, etc). It was fun for a very short period but it quickly started to feel like work and I had to deal with all the pompous little kiddies who had nothing better to do than devote their entire existence to playing WoW. I got tired of it real quick and quit playing for quite a while.

Now I'm one of the very few level 80 player who's not in a guild (by my own choice) and I enjoy the game a lot more. Sometimes I don't play for weeks. When I do play, I enjoy hopping on for 15 minutes here or there. Maybe an hour or two after the family goes to bed and a few more hours on weekends if there is nothing else to do. I don't care if my my epic weapon doesn't have the absolute best enchant and I don't spend hours looking at spreadsheets trying to figure out which bracer gives my .005% better DPS with my current talent build and best of all I don't have to listen to spoiled little kids complain that I don't play my class exactly like they think I should...

So... WoW is a great game if 1) You play it on your own terms and 2) you don't let it take over your life...

agreed JB, I think you have found a good balance to enjoy the game and it's instances/quests without logging off each night wanting to punch people. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

Exactly... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif The game should bring you joy, not cause you grief, otherwise you should really examine why you are playing it (IMO).

The last time I quit for an extended period, it was back in the Burning Crusade days (before Lich King came out). I was in a BC instance with 4 other randoms trying to level up my mage. There was another mage in the group, and about half way through the instance, he started PMing me stuff like "How much did you pay?". And I reply "Pay for what?". He replies "Pay for that account", then begins to babble something about having all of the Tiered armor and not playing the frost spec right. I immediately told him to F-off, told the rest of the group I wasn't interested in playing with an A-hole like the other mage and I promptly logged out (for about 9 months).

Now mind you, he may have been right but it was the first time I had played my mage in MONTHS (after leveling up my rogue and hunter) and I was still trying to figure out/remember all of the spells combined with all the new talents from the ever changing talent tree. That's the kind of stuff that ruins the game for me, so I find it's better to just play it on my own terms the way I want to and a big F.U. you anyone who has a problem with that...

Another thing that's also really improved the game for me is having a big widescreen monitor and computer fast enough to play the game perfectly in windowed mode. In windows mode, I can browse the web on my second monitor and still keep an eye on what's happening in the game. That helps pass the time a lot better when I'm in flight or scanning the auction house. The big widescreen monitor is nice because you can have a lot of UI up and not have it all overlapping.
