Well, just dismantled my old coralife 4x65w PC hood and retro fit 2 of the bulbs into the hood of my 75.  This is supplemental to my 2x250W XM 20K Halides.  I'm trying to add some true actinic, as my colors suck.  For some strange reason, I could only find one of my actinic bulbs, so I'm shopping for another.  I looked online and Hellolights has them for $24.99.  I called Iowa Pet Foods to see what their number was and to see if they would come down a little.  No deal.  They wanted $42 for one bulb and wouldn't budge.
I really would like to keep my money local and invest in the local shops, but I can almost get 2 bulbs for the same price online.  They just said "they have to make a profit".  Even after explaining that if they knocked some off their price, they would still make money, they said no.  In that case, they make nothing.  No big deal I guess.  It's their right to ask what they want, but it would have been nice to drop my coin locally.
    Off to the internet.........................................
Oh, by the way, the one actinic bulb made lots of my stuff completely change color.  Had some ugly brown palys that turned bright green.  My zoas are on fire too.  Just can't make my purple cap turn purple.  It's still brown.

Unfortunately I think that is the predicament of many local stores. Dry goods are just so easy to buy from the net, and most of the places on the net are able to store hundreds, if not thousands, of any one bulb at a time.

I definately understand the logic, but still bums me out that my money will end up in California (no offense Bela) /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif, instead of Iowa. I'll still spend money at Iowa Pet Foods. I like Tim and like the store.

HAHA none taken. If it makes you feel better I am sure most of the local stores buy live goods from California wholesalers. Most of the big wholesalers for the USA I believe are located just outside the LAX airport.
