I received my Wp40's Friday and finally got a chance to play with it yesterday and WOW this guy is very happy. The power is very strong as everyone says and it is good enough for my 90 gallon. My RBTA is not happy with me right now but I will be moving the pump to a different location and maybe it will open up again. I currently have it on the left side glass halfway down and angled up to the back rear corner. Thinking of moving it to the back right wall and angle towards the front left corner. I am not using the night sensor at this time and my incorporate in the future. I am running at full 24v and may add the LED dimmer as well. As for now I am impressed with the flow in the tank and will be commenting as the months go on. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/w00t.gif

I have been following the thread on RC for about 2 months now and I would love to step up to an RA but that will have to wait until this fall. My AC Jr will have to suffice until then. You can use the RA cable to control it with an Apex also. There are rumors that the WP25 will have speed control which is the biggest complaint from the general population.

Only if you hook them up to a apex or RA controller

I don't see how having something as big as a softball could ever compete with an MP-40. Sorry but vortechs are expensive cuz they are worth it.. Just like divorces

We shall see. Vortexes are actually expensive because people are willing to pay what they're charging because there are no comparable, more reasonably priced options. It's a competition vacuum. In space, everything is expensive.

I just bought a wp40. I can't wait to get it. All reviews I have read have said very good things.
I will keep you posted. It was only $114.00 shipped.

You can buy them from us distributors now. I got mine from E-bay from a place I buy from often. I don't like the fact it coasts 25 to ship them. Also they are not the size of a softball. Look on YouTube at them.

I agree with dead fish. The are expensive because they get bought at that price. I think 500 for a powerhead is crazy.

I'm on the worth it team as well. Vortechs are awesome. Although I think a combo of vortechs and tunzes would be the winning combination in a tank.

I'm sorry but i dont care what it can do our the cost... After holding one in my hand at a LFS this week and seeing the outrageous size of the power head, I'll pay the $500.00. I went from having 4 1500 gph vortechs that didnt flow half of what these mp-40's are . worth every penny when you factor in the easy of connection to my Apex. Save your money to get the real deal I had to and it was well worth the wait.

Dude, don't be confused: I could and would spend $500 if I thought it was worth it. I'm not convinced. Maybe I will be down the road. I've never understood why people go so nuts about having a powerhead in their tank. The tank itself is an artificial environment. There's evidence of that everywhere you look.

It could be that these things are not in the same league as the vortech. If so, their price point is justified. If not, Ecotech has some competition and that's good for all of us because we won't be held over a barrel by a monopoly.
