I'm sorry that just scares the crap out of me.. All I see is pressure cracks or massive tank failure from that. I like waves but wow. Lowest setting is just fine I think . Good luck with the build Kyle

Well just like most wavemakers you don't leave them on that setting. Also with a full tank it don't wave that much, but still has some wave on top. I am sure the tank can handle it. Its all about the power and it has it for a great price.

You put one in your 220? Are you going to add any other circulation or do you think this along with your return will be enough keep particulates suspended?

I have 3 other power heads to join it for circulation. I do feel that you can never have to much flow.

Just thought I would chime in, got a wp40 a couple months ago.. running 75g BB with nothing but some frag racks in it, one suspended by fishing string...
Anyways, got one on the right wall straight across to the left, and it was sufficient, but didn't pick up detritus like I was hoping, but definitely made a HUGE difference compared to my past powerheads.
Got a second one last week, put it on the left wall pointed straight across the bottom, NOTHING settles, and everything including my softies like the flow on wave 1 mode.

I do have the led dimmers to allow power control, I usually run them 100% all the time, but at night or feeding times I usually reduce to 50% on wave mode.

I thought REALLY hard about getting a vortech mp40, but for the cost of one and the battery backup and wireless, I can get two wp40's and a MASSIVE battery backup UPS.

My main reasons for not going with the mp40, was price (freakin stupid exspensive) and the fact you HAVE TO replace the seals after time goes by.
The noise from these I was thinking was acceptable, but not having to buy replacement parts. If I'm going to pay 6-700$ on a powerhead, it better have a lifetime warranty with free replacement parts.

Anyways, 200$ later, I'm happy with mine, I also got my 2nd a couple weeks ago, so whatever cease and desist people are talking about, is probably a sham by vortech to get more purchasers since the only thing that could be considered a patent violation would be the names (mp40 vs wp40)

If I have to do it again, I'll buy another. I mean, I could buy 12 to equal the rediculous cost of 2 mp40's.

I don't think you have your facts correct. The patent issue has nothing to do with vortech they are not the same type of pumps. Your WP40 pumps are a knockoff of the Tunze stream pumps with nearly identical cosmetics and functions. The vortech is a patent on the magnetic transfer of torque through glass to the prop. (no electrical components are submerged in water). If you ever priced neodymium magnets you would understand some of the high price. Also try to get service and parts for your wp40. The vortechs have the best customer service if you need it. FYI I have 2 mp40 and 2 mp60's the 40's I have had about 2 years and have needed no replacement parts other than a ceramic shaft (which I broke during cleaning). I'm not saying that the wp40's are bad pumps but when a company goes through all the research and development to design and market a product only have a Chinese company come in and simply copy the technology and profit from it is what makes it wrong. Now their making profit from another companies expense.

Anyway please don't go and bash a company for developing a product and selling it at a price that you don't like. No one is forcing you to purchase them. If hobbyist felt the pumps were to expensive I don't think that ecotech would be one of the best (and newest) most well known companies in the hobby.

I just ordered a WP25. Not sure if anyone else has the smaller model so I will let you know how it goes when I get it. I'm pretty excited. I would of gotten the 40 but I'm sure it would look too big and be too powerful for my 75.

I've had a wp-25 running on a 40 breeder for a week now. I'm running it in W1 mode on speed 3 with the dial turned all the way to the right. I replaced 2 koralia 750's and 2 maxijet 400's so that was worth the $55. Seems to be well made. I also ordered a 40 to go on my 120 when I set it back up.

I did have a power outage the second night I had it and I was asleep when the power came back on. Turns out I didn't have the settings locked so it turned on at full speed and ran that way for 6 hours.....amazingly didn't lose any corals. One thing I don't know is how long the controller will retain the settings once it loses power.

I can plug my other controller in tonight and lock it and unplug it while I'm gone for a week to see if it retains the previous setting. I will post my results when I get back unless anyone knows off hand.

sweet. So do you think full power will be too strong for my standard size 75? Hoping that I just need the wp25 as the only powerhead but I'm not really sure what to even expect out of it. Seems like all the info I find is for the 40 so who knows lol.I've just been running a mag 7 return with two aqueon 500 powerheads. So I'm curious to see the difference.
