Isn't there a 33 that has the same footprint. Craig, did you have these in your retail?

 

I've got a 55 that Mike Sams drilled for me so not all are tempered. I bought it from petco $1 per gallon sale.

 

I know I've personally drilled 3. All 55's. Not sure on brands tho.

 

I am surprised. Somewhere in the forums is a video of someone drilling a 55 when it explodes

 

I've drilled sides and backs of them... Never tried bottom. Maybe all of the bottoms are tempered. Not sure.

 

If you drilled it it wasn't from Petco... Should be a tag you can view from inside tank through bottom glass. If no tag The glass thickness could be an indicator. Put a tarp under it to catch any mess just in case.

 

Sorry if I hijacked your forum but it could be some helpful information. My tank did come from petco as I bought it from there. It also had the Orange and white tag on the bottom only the bottom glass is tempered. I did a lot of web searching before we drilled it.
