I will give you some friendly advice,
I had the same thought but for reasoning of keeping fish from jumping out,
So I bought a pair for $60, they worked for the purpose intended, however the drawbacks:

Salt creep they are fun to keep clean
Tank heats up faster depends what lighting you have, if you have MH 's it will be quicker...
Needless to say, I removed them and they are not being used.
    They are great for Freshwater...

Evaporation is part of the process in having a fish tank, I top off a gallon a day....

I hope this information was useful...

Thanks for the info. Yes it was very useful. I am topping off at 1 to 1.5 gals a day. I am thinking that glass would be a good thing, but maybe not.
    lol

You can get glass cut at Ace or True Value, this is where I got mine for my 120, it cost me about $16 (versus about $40 per for the commercial versions). I leave 2-4" open on either end though, mine are just to protect the lights from salt creep/spray. No fancy hinges or handles though. And the edges are sharp so you have to spend about 10 minutes on each piece with Emory cloth to take the edges down.

I would stay away from glass. You're gonna be cleaning that glass every other day. An ATO will be a worthwhile investment. I'm also topping off around 1.5-2gals a day on my 75gal. I'm running 2x250watt MH and 2x110watt VHO's. An ATO would keep the salinity swings at a minimum

Hey Kyle I wouldnt recommend putting the tops on. I have a top for my 75/90 and they really suck because of the salt creep. Also I felt it kept too much heat in the tank. You are evaporating just water and the salt stays in the tank, I lose about 10 gallons a week without the tops but feel its worth it.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I should have asked the Question is it normal to lose a lot of water to evaporation. I think I will be just adding water, I don't need my water getting any hotter then it already does. 78.8 to 80.0 when MH turn on.

    Thanks again!

Cancel my plea for Tops. lol

The way I look at it is, any time we can help each other save some dinero & learn from others mistakes.... That's what members of a team do....

    Good luck Guy...
