So I recently purchased troys 180 and I am looking for a light I want to go with MH and some sort of atinic to supplement. Who sells good lights or has a good used one for sale. Lmk Any feedback as to what color temp to run. I have sps and softies. Also quite a few fish. so I want the best color but at the same time not sacrifice all my growth. Open to any input.

run 14-15k halides, with actinics i'd go with 3 250w. brand of lights i'd use in that spectrum would be phoenix if its a double end bulb or XM for a single end bulb. i'd try and find T5 actinics as you have more color options to play with and cheaper to replace the bulbs too. getting a 72" light will be kinda expensive are you doing a canopy? if so you could do 3 pendants. just a few thoughts

I would give Reef Speciality a call if you want to go with MH. Apparently coralvue reflectors are highly regarded. I talked to him the other day and was a super nice guy and full of information. He has a gorgeous 500g tank that was a featured tank on reefcentral I believe it was and told me about his 800 gallon he was working on.

I don't think $850 for used is a very good deal. As Gered said, Mike at Reef Specialty can hook you up. I have a 250 watt CoralVue ballast/LumenBright pendant combo. $280 with a Reeflux 10,12 or 20k bulb. $840 for 3 new. Check out his tank on that site. Super nice guy to deal with. Just my 2 cents.

hey robbie. it all depends on the brand of fixture. Do you have a link it? Some might need rewired so they wont start fire. But not a big deal for an electrican

+1 Foo. I would bet that pendants will hold their value better too...and if you sell on RC, they are easier to ship than one huge fixture.
