Before I go and buy everything new, I figured I'd post on here to see if anyone has any of the things I'll be needing to upgrade to the 90 over the next 4 months.
Here's my 'will need' list:18 x 8" heatsink- predrilled easiest, if not, I'll just get to learn how to solder /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gifHanging kit for heatsinkInvetronics 1050mA 40w dimmable driver (I have an extra 700mA driver that I could trade)2 fan cooling system for heatsinkATO with pump. Will just be temporary while the 90g is running before I tear down the 65g.
Live or dry rock for aquascaping and rubble in sump. I can fit quite a bit of rock in my 65 now to keep it live. Otherwise, I'll just let it dry out until I set up the 90g in July. Will be looking for about 40-50 lbs of rock total I would guess. I have too little rock now. Warning, I am going to be picky on my pieces so I may visit all of you and pick out just a couple to get some cool aquascaping /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif Would love some pieces that have zoas or other brightly colored softies on them.
Then as a side note, I have a Mag 7 on my 65 and it seems like barely not enough flow from my returns and through my sump. I have a Mag 12 that I am tentatively planning to use for the 90g but I want to make sure it'll be enough flow. Does anyone have experience with the 12? If 700gph seems too slow on a 65, do you think the jump to 1200gph would be appropriate for a 90g? Thanks /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
Let me know if anyone has any of these things. I'd love to support members of the group if I can do that first before the internet.Kylie

FWIW and Just an FYI for those who are unsure..... Return pumps should provide 2 to 3 times a turnover rate for the tank so you would be wanting about 180-270gph turnover...just make sure you figure in headloss. Many people confuse the "intank" flow with "return flow/rate or turnover rate". Powerheads are for intank flow for the corals. Turnover rate needs to be slow so that the skimmer has enough contact time with the water to effectively work ;-0) Often times too fast of turnover causes water quality issues....

Ooooh, so in that case with a mag 7 im probably too much flow with the return. That is really good tp know!

Oh yeah Kylie I also have > 500 lb of dry rock sitting in my basement. I've been rather stingy on selling it though, but if you're here for Spring Fest you can probably pick through it. I do want to save some for my tank and I have a couple of 50+ lb pieces that are not for sale LOL
