I'm getting a 3 gal tank for xmas, i wanted to get some sealife rock because ive been impressed with pics ive seen people post in other forums compared to whats available locally for $8-9/lb, i only need 3-4 lbs so im probably going to end up paying $30-50 shipping for that little bit so if anyone is planning on ordering from them in the next couple weeks or has extra they want to get rid of id pay you a reasonable premium to bum off of your order, name your price

for that little amount i would save the money and buy local. maybe even someone near by you has some in there tank they would let go of. really that is a small amount to that much in shipping for in my opinion, but i'm a tight wad sometimes haha. wife controls the money :)

same here thats why i ended up with a pico instead of the 20l i wanted [IMG] thats probably what ill do if nobody is interested, but i figure at $8-9/lb locally though the price would be similar for a lot better quality rock if i can split shipping with someone

This summer I bought 15 pounds of Pukani dry rock from Bulk Reef Supply @ $3.00/pound - as I wanted to add more to my tank.  Real nice stuff.  The great thing on it is that it is extremely porous, and you aren't paying for water weight.  Anyway, for the 15 pounds I got 3 very good size rocks - each piece was about 8"x8"x10" - and nicely shaped.   I've only added two of the 3 rocks to my tank - and have one left sitting around.  If you wanted to start with a very nice dry rock (it could easily be made into smaller pieces), I'd be willing to sell it for what I paid for it.  Also I got it in August when they had a special going on - free shipping on the rock.

Dry rock-wise this place has some great rock. After shipping costs it ends up being about $2.70/lb They also sell live rock, but I am not sure how that is, though they have nothing but good reviews on RC. I am thinking of buying some "show pieces" of this dry rock. The vendor is super awesome and very willing to accomodate and cherry pick based on your requests.
I suppose it is worth mentioning that for the dry rock the calculator puts in boxing fees and it ends up being higher. There are no such fees for dry rock (only for the live stuff), so the vendor manually updates prices and emails you with the final total before charging your credit card.

I got my live rock here: http://www.oceandirectonline.com/ a while ago. I think with shipping it was a little over $4/lb
