I need a skimmer and am wondering what anyone has available out there. I'd rather it be inthe IC/CR area to avoid shipping/driving too far.

I have stuff to trade in this thread: http://www.greateriowareefsociety.o...fault.aspx but will also pay cashee money.

I'd go with an Alage Turf Scrubber on a tank that size. A skimmer rated for 180 and larger start to get big and pricey but that is just my opinion. I think saltwaternewbee has a skimmer for sale.

I have to admit, I know next to nothing about algae scrubbers. might be something I'd try down the line to compare against a skimmer, but the tank's new and I think I wanna stay traditional for now.

    Understandable

This is rated for 180 gallons, not sure if you have a sump plus your load yet - http://fragtasticreef.com/DNWB-150-Reef-Octopus-Recirculating-Protein-Skimmer-OCT-DNWB150.htm
    I'd almost go up one to a 200 gallon - http://fragtasticreef.com/Diablo-XS-225-Reef-Octopus-Skimmer-DB-XS225.htm
or may even want to have a little extra room yet and go 250 gallons - http://fragtasticreef.com/Reef-Octopus-NWB-200-Skimmer-Octopus-NWB-200.htm

Those skimmers are all new so they are a little more costly. They are also from Fragtastisreef one of our sponsors so you may be able to see what else is out there before settling.

I was personally looking at getting - http://fragtasticreef.com/Extreme-XS-350-Protein-Skimmer-OCT-XS350.htm - as I am hopefully going to be upgrading to a 210 here shortly. Plus I want to get a frag tank going as well. I want the extra skimming power. But for that not even a third of the price I could build a Turf Scrubber and it do the same job and from what I've read and talked to Bud about may even work better in the long run. Just some ideas for ya. Happy Skimming!

I was thinking of driving to clowns and corals today. Does anyone know if they carry a stock of the skimmers they have on their site?
