WTB sponges for filtration

Most pet stores should have sponges that work well. I got a pack of three for $15 that are about 1" thick and 6.5 x 12.5" from Petland. They worked really well collecting the really fine sand that wasn't settling in my 40g when I first set it up.

 

I've got tons of live sponge if you need any! Prolly not what your looking for though... haha

 

Go to Walmart or a fabric store and buy quilt batting.  A yard will probably last a long time.  Cut it to whatever size you want.  I've used it for years and years without any problems at all. 
There are different thickness but I usually just get the thinnest.  You can always double it, if you need to but it is sooo much cheaper than sponges and you don't have to wash them out...just pitch it.

 

That is a good idea /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/hybrid//emoticons/smile.gif I was recently directed to fabric stores for silk plants for freshwater also. Appearently they have just as good of ones for much cheeper. Fabric stores rock haha
