Looking to get a bigger tank before I get to far into restoring my salt water system.  As you've seen in my mayday post I lost everything in my tank except for snails and crabs.  I want to get live stock back into the tank but I also want a larger tank so I think now before going through and restocking my tank I should probably get my larger tank setup and just put stock into it and shut down the 55 gal.  I am willing to trade the 55 gal plus some money if anyone is interested in a smaller tank.  I do also have a second 55 gal tank that is currently fresh water.   I am looking to sell that tank of even throw it in as a trade for the larger tank.  Please feel free to PM me and we can talk further on pricing and location.  I am in Cedar Rapids but right about now if the price was right I'd drive clear across the state for the tank.

It's really good to hear that you're not getting out! So many people leave the hobby when the have disasters like that. Are you looking for a used or new tank? I can let you know what a new one would cost from AC&C in Washburn if you want.

I've looked at new tanks through a few vendors online and they look to be $600 to $700 for a 180 and right around $400 for a 120 so probably looking used unless you got better deals, either way if you got the time to check into and post back I'll take anything into consideration at this time.

Our suppliers occasionally have sales, so the tanks can become pretty cheap. I know we just sold a 180 for $500 last month. I'll check if there's any specials running this month.

Thanks Adam. I might've found a 125 gal on Craigslist. Looks to be located in Troy Mills which is like 30 minute drive but waiting for the seller to call me back on pricing. What would be a good price on a 125 gal used tank? Here is the ad:

I guess it all depends. It's hard to make an estimate without seeing it or getting much much more detail than tank, stand, canopy, lights, pump...

    What kind of canopy?
What kind of sump? Is it a 180 made into a sump? If so, how would it ever fit under a 125?
    What kind of lights?
Everything is new except the pumps and sump?

It's even worst how everything is worded. He's got everything jumbled into one sentence which makes things very confusing!

Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

Bought that 125 gallon tank mentioned above today. Looks nice. Few cracks in the tank tirm. Stand needs refinished due to sitting out in a shed of 8 years. Tank has never seen water. Still has the stickers on it. Lights were never taken out of the box until I tested them today. Looks like a Mag4 Sump that'll support a 180 gallon tank - needs new plumbing since it was used. 2 pumps - both fired right up when I tested it. Looks like I'll need to replace the skimmer so if anyone as a skimmer on the cheap let me know. Probably be a month or two before I start filling it with water though so I have time to shop around for missing odds and ends that I still need. Probably need a larger or a second heater as well. When I get time I'll upload pics and / or maybe start a thread on my adventure with the larger tank.

Also once I get the 125 in the house the 55 gal will be for sale or trade. Currently have another 55 that is freshwater and it is for sale / trade right now. Looking $250 for everything and that is tank, stand, lights, filter, gravel, all decor, under gravel filter, 2 airpumps, and probably more stuff that I dont even know I have.

I've got a Precision Marine Bullet skimmer to get rid of. I paid more than $300 for it(with pump). I used it for a while until I found an awesome deal on a super quiet and easy set and forget skimmer that I couldn't pass up. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I just remember it was over $300. I used the pump on the new skimmer, so I just have the skimmer for sale. New(without pump) this skimmer is $430. Let me know if you're interested in it. I'm open to reasonable offers if you think $200 is too much.

Is it an in or outside of sump skimmer? I have two pumps so I should be able to plumb one into the skimmer. I'll get a pic of the sump up so you can see what I am dealing with for room limitations. I am going to guess the sump doesnt have room for an internal skimmer. $200 wont kill me but not easy to come up with anytime soon. Prolly take me 10+ weeks to come up with it since it was hard enough to get the funds for the tank set I got today. Reason why I saw 10 weeks is cuz I'll make $20 a week here soon cutting my grandparent's grass lol
