Hey I am setting up a 55 gallon tank and am trying to figure out what i am going to be spending. I'm going to try to keep the cost down by buying some good used equipment. Its going to be almost in the middle of the living room, so I will need to avoid HOB on the tank and use a sump. I'm looking to buy:
    Protein Skimmer
    Filter
    Pumps
and anything else that is needed for a sump.
I am pretty new to the hobby and have never used a sump system before. I am getting a 10 or 20 gallon tank from a friend soon, would I be able to use that as a sump? All of my equipment on my 37gal has been HOB. So if anyone has any good equipment or advice, let me know /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
Also could use any live sand and live rock.
    Thanks!

I have lots of live sand available and few different return pumps. Let me know specifically what you're looking for and we can go from there. Do you have an actual sump yet? What do you plan on using?

I have a turboflotor 1000 skimmer without the pump. Sounds like AJ might have a pump that will run it.

Hey I'm trying to decide which skimmer to buy. I have it pretty much narrowed down to either the Eshopps PSK 75 (click here to view) and the Reef Octopuss 110 (click here to view)
I really want the reef octopus but its a little over my budget.
Anyone have any input? Any other skimmer? the price has to be below that of the reef octopus.
    Thanks!
