I currently have a 29 gallon biocube reef tank running and am thinking of adding a yellow watchman goby and pistol shrimp pair. I have coral ranging from SPS LPS softies an anemone. I would like some advice on this thank you

My #1 choice is a yasha and candy pistol shrimp. They are much more colorful, but also smaller and more shy. The yellow watchman and tiger pistol are a great choice. They were one of my first additions when I started saltwater and I expect I'll always have a shrimp/goby pair. Watching the shrimp build and rebuild, and with the goby standing guard has occupied me for many hours.

You won't want to put any frags you like in the sand though. It's an ongoing joke that my pistol shrimp must have a cave full of coral artwork because if anything falls off a rock, he's quick to run away with it to use for his project. They like quite a deep sandbed to work with. They never really disturbed any other tankmates, other than the shrimp physically removing a snail or hermit that came too close.

I also keep little rock rubble pieces and empty shells in my sandbed, which the shrimp uses for construction.

I have a yellow watchman and tiger pistol. They are alot of fun to watch. But like Shayna stated they will run off with corals that are left on the sand bed. Even if it is attached to a small rock they can take off with them. I also have a yasha goby that i just got about two weeks ago. I'm getting him a candy cane shrimp friend this weekend. But they are in a different tank. My yasha so far only comes out during feeding. He is getting more and more brave as he adjusts since I just got him almost two weeks ago like I said. Either way they are a great addition to a cube!!

goby and pistol pairs are always awesome to watch. A definite must have in most tanks. Like everyone said the shrimp is a worker and will constantly be moving around the sand and anything else on the tank bottom. Also make sure your rockwork is nice and stable and not sitting on top of the sand. If they burrow under it and cause it to shift it may cause a collapse.

I have a smaller pistol shrimp with my YWM goby. Blue zoo aquatics has a combo package for shrimp & goby. That's where I've got mine, and they're best friends. He doesn't steal any corals and he's still just as exciting. ^_^
