Sounds like diatom algae which is common for a new tank. Did you use tap water or reverse osmosis filtered water?

Using R/O? Tap water. Please go in to the most detail as you can!

I'm having the same issue although mine was an established tank when I bought it. And I have had it set up now for about 3 or 4 months. Just all the sudden started a few weeks ago. I am using RO water. Maybe I need to check it again to make sure its still reading at 0. Seems like when the light first come on it is gone. But after a very short period of time everything starts to turn brown again. Maybe 15-20 mins. Then just keeps getting darker and darker. Do I need to replace bulbs maybe?
