So i just purchased a vertex zeovit reactor after contemplating doing a full zeovit system.

I currently use korallen-zuct pohls extra, coral vitalizer, sponge power, lps amino acid, amino acid concentrate and after reading threads on R2R I figured i would just start doing it since im seeing good results from the other products.

I will update the thread a month after I start the whole thing when i get the reactor in. Hopefully I'll get some results like I have been seeing :)

Are you going to manually dose the additives or setup a doser?
And where do you keep your alkalinity?
I have looked into it also but lots of tedious dosing and testing involved or things can go bad in a hurry. But the coral colors are amazing .

One more question. Are you doing this on your 220?

I plan on manually dosing it till the other doser comes in.

I currently have my alk at 8.54 i have seen that zeovit people keep theres at different numbers some 7.5 some 8 so not sure where to have it at yet.
I have seen tanks with amazing looking sps, lps, and zoas in it.

Yes planning on doing it on the 220

I think what i might do though is separate the frag tanks from the system but haven't decided yet.

I can say every tank i have seen using this system has looked amazing.

Yeah they do colors are crazy. From what I have read alkalinity between 7-8. Anything much more than 8 you get burnt tips on acroporas nit sure on LPS and softies. Keep me posted sounds cool.

Bad part about this system is as soon as the coral comes out of your system and into another system that doesnt have zeo the corals dramatically change

Lighting changes the way corals look also so it wouldn't just be this particular system

It doesn't matter if it zeovit or just an ultra low nutrient system or different lights any coral can look different in another system.

I have experienced color change when I get them from people that run led. It takes time for corals to adjust to different systems.

But yeah your not gonna get the pastel colors that you get with a zeo tank.

Oh I'm fully aware the changes that occur changing from tank to tank, lighting changes, flow, lol everything when it comes to sps coloring. I had a buddy years ago that ran a full zeo system and loved it, but didnt love it when he started selling frags and people gave him a hard time because within a week ever frag he sold would dull and most would brown out, and this was even yo advanced reef keepers. Came down to the corals shock from going from the zeo system to non zeo system. But again, to each there own, its a good system. Just figured id share a story

Did he have lps and zoas also or just sps @glaspie69@glaspie69 just curious?

I have seen the zeo tanks with lps and zoas and they didnt look much different from tank to tank just the sps.

They also seemed to thrive in a zeo tank

I have always wanted to try the full system but looks pretty tedious and time consuming. And more equipment would be needed to dose and reactor and I think you have to shake the stones everyday or something.

One tank on reef central on sps forum Lunar's Reef is the most amazing zeo tank I have seen pics of. It would be awesome to stare at that from my recliner every night lol.

I would be interested to see some LPS and zoas in a zeo system. The ones I saw pics of were all sps tanks and maybe a couple chalice .

Its been years but if i remember right it was sps dominate, tank looked amazing overall. He just struggled moving frags once people figured out they were pretty much gunna brown out

Id be interested to see lps zoas also, they really never loose there color so there wouldnt be a ton of risk that way

I read on the zeo forum that every day is best to clean the reactor or tumble the media but it said you can do every other day

I think most of us are near our tanks sometime during the day so it wouldn't be much extra work :)

You should do it @jeremy@jeremy then we can trade back and forth with no worries of it changing colors lol ;)

I forget where i saw the zoa and lps zeo tank he had a ton of sps also looked amazing.

    :)
I have been trying to make my system less complicated lol. Got rid of my bio pellets a few months back. Gonna get rid of gfo and carbon reactor next. And just run my big *** skimmer and Turbo Algae scrubber.

Maybe I should setup a cube or something and compare colors and growth rates between the systems.

I saw that tank he also had a clam, plates and some other lps :)

YouTube is where i saw the tank with zoas and other lps in the zeo tank everything looked great.

According to what i have read i will be taking the gfo reactor offline with the use of this system

I guess my eyes are always drawn to the sticks lol. I think the stones and a couple of the bacteria additives take the place of the gfo.
I think once you get everything setup and a dosing schedule set it will be pretty easy.

This'll be interesting to see! Keep us posted :D

I'm way far behind you in the whole "changing the way I run my tanks" department, but I'll catch up someday!
