I have been doing research on the Zeovit ways. I have found it to be a very good system from what I have been reading. It does seem simple. Basicly you strip the water of all nutrients allowing you to control everything that is in the water colom and params.

This is a pick from a young frag tank running the zeovit system.
I am wondering if anyone here is running a true zeovit? I was also wondering if you can run a partial zeovit with good results? I have also read that with this system you will not need a skimer. So what is everyones opinion on this? Shaun

Ask Einsteins, he ran it for a couple of years.

It is good, but expensive & you have to be very tedious in your additions.

I thought you did have to run a skimmer, but no carbon or GFO

That is the reason for the research. I want to understand it as well as I can before giving it a shot. Shaun

I'm pretty sure Bill ran a skimmer, pretty nice one too. At least he had one for sale when he took his tank down.......

First, that pic is from a tank well known to have excellent coral color. I've said it a few times on this site now that you can't expect any system or method to produce color like some of the best tanks around. The method has to appeal to you and is something you are willing to work at to tweak.

Does the Zeovit method work? Yes
    Does it take time/research? Yes
Are there other variants of Zeo? Yes
    Skimmer? Yes
    Use Carbon? Yes

I wish those were mine. I was just looking for some opinions on this system. I was looking into it and doing research to see if it is worth the work and money. Basicly, I want what everyone in this club wants, An awe inspiring tank. Shaun

The system works...no doubt about it. I just don't want hobbiests (not anyone in particular) to see a tank using any method and think it will make their tank gorgeous. For every good looking Zeo tank there is one that is struggling, just like other methods. I would love for you're tank to become one that is awe inspiring...sometimes I feel like we lose sight of the reasons why we attempt reefkeeping.

If you have not yet read the sticky titled General Info at the top of General Discussion on the Zeovit site I suggest you do as it's a great intro. The regulars on that site are very knowledgeable and will be great at answering quesitons if you start this method. Just be aware that they have a list of questions about your tank that you should fill out so they have an idea of what your system is like.

I hope you keep us updated on your progress

hey all count me in for a test zeo tank. ive been looking into it for the past few years, and feel well read on the subject. now ive gotta save for the initial set-up! lol! i will be running a 90 gallon frag tank, etss 600 skimmer, brs reactor w/carbon. i am absolutely fed up with hair algae! i like to look at my corals with the lights on for more than a few hours a day, and no i dont just overfeed and perform pisspoor h20 changes, im tired... the new set-up is free of hair as of now n its gonna stay that way! with any luck? 4 now i will just way overskim it...

I have all the equiptment to setup a standard tank. I will not be trying the Zeo at this time as I feel that my reefkeeping skills and knowledge are still to, short?, to try this right now. I got into this because I enjoy reefs. Not for a showstopper. I thank you all for the input. Shaun
